Climate: Botswana is hot and dry all year round. The climate is mildest in the winter months (June to September), while it can be unbearably hot in the summer months, especially in October and November. The rainy season starts in November.
Cities:
Gaborone is the capital of the country. It is located just a few kilometers north of the South African border. Gaborone is now considered the fastest growing city on the continent. The city offers little for tourists and is mostly just used as a transit point where travelers can stock up.
Maun is the gateway to the Okawango Delta and hub for flights from Windhoek and Johannesburg. The airport is located in the city (no transfer required). From Maun airport there are flights over the Okowango Delta for 60 US dollars (as of 2006).
