Puntsholing – border town with India in the southwest

Climate: Like the country, the climate is also divided into three parts. In the south, the climate is subtropical with abundant rainfall during the monsoon. Flooding can also occur here. A temperate climate is found in central Bhutan, while severe winters and cool summers are prevalent in the high mountain regions. Therefore, the best time to travel is spring and late summer.
Here, the old rule of travel is to adapt to customs and traditions. Restraint and observation as well as friendly and open behavior opens the way to encounters. This is especially important to keep in mind when taking pictures. Not everywhere may and should be photographed (e.g. in certain temple and monastery areas). Especially when photographing people, you should ask for their consent; gestures can also help here.
Important to know:
The king and the royal family are held in the highest esteem. Travelers should therefore hold back on critical opinions in this regard.
Religious buildings such as stupas, mani stones are always bypassed in a clockwise direction, or passed on the left – so that they are on the right.
Never bet on stupas or mani stones.
When visiting the temple, shoes and headgear should be removed. Clothing should continue to express respect for the Holy Place.
Smoking is generally prohibited in Bhutan. Tobacco products may not be sold. Out of respect, it is advised to stick to it in public.
